Logistics Manager

Who We Are:

Starface World is reinventing the way we care for acne-prone skin as the first complexion brand to combine efficacy and optimism. We take skincare concerns that were once thought of as flaws and translate them into an opportunity for expression.

Starface World is a positively uplifting place where everyone is safe & accepted exactly as they are. We support causes and do our own work in the world to help build a better, more supportive universe. The same thinking applies to the way we care for skin: we don’t identify flaws or imperfections, we just nurture what’s there—it’s perfect because it’s all just skin.

Our team is a small (but growing) group of committed individuals who are passionate, empathetic, creative, and eager to learn. We are committed to a sustained focus on diversity, equity, anti-racism, and inclusion.

Who You Are:

We are looking for a Logistics Manager to coordinate the movement of products throughout our global supply chain, working with our network of freight forwarders, brokers, small parcel carriers, fulfillment centers, and manufacturers. The Logistics Manager will be responsible for handling all inbound and outbound logistics and building out new processes and infrastructure to ensure that we are optimizing our logistics for cost, speed, and reliability. You will need to be highly organized, detailed-oriented, self-motivated, and have the ability to juggle many tasks and solve problems creatively and efficiently. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment and has a “no task is too small” attitude.

Responsibilities

  • Arrange domestic and international shipments of both primary components and finished goods with freight forwarders, analyzing data and implementing processes to ensure the most eco-friendly and economical movement of product.

  • Act as the central point of communication between our manufacturers, freight forwarders, and fulfillment centers to plan and execute inbound supply.

  • Coordinate flow of required information for international parcel shipment clearance and assess product contents for potential customs issues.

  • Manage carrier relationships and own carrier selection and performance with key measures including service, cost, reliability, damages, and claims.

  • Track all inbound shipments and communicate with operations, sales, and marketing on the status of products and expected shipment and arrival dates.

  • Pull monthly shipment data for both inbound and outbound shipments and perform complex analyses such as cost savings research, sourcing studies, and demand studies.

  • Build, maintain and update cost models that can be used for financial forecasting.

  • Develop and maintain SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures), vendor guidelines, routing guides, and all other reference/training documents.

  • Manage inventory losses as a result of transportation by determining causes, filing insurance claims, and implementing appropriate changes.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years of experience working in international logistics and transportation.

  • Experience in ocean freight shipping, air freight shipping, and 3PL operations (experience in small parcel is a plus).

  • Experience with US Customs and international shipping guidelines and regulations.

  • Strong communication and negotiation skills for problem-solving with freight forwarders on behalf of the company.

  • Experience conducting quantitative analyses and translating that data into actionable steps to drive results.

  • Advanced Excel skills.

  • A thorough understanding of supply chain operational concepts surrounding production planning, contract manufacturing, inventory control, and 3PL operations.

  • Highly organized with an exceptionally high level of attention to detail.

  • Ability to be flexible and agile with changing business needs and time restraints.

  • Strong team-oriented skills with the ability to work cross-functionally.

  • Process-oriented and equally comfortable diving into existing processes or creating new ones.

  • Master at strategic prioritization and decision making, and can effectively balance long-term business goals with short-term needs.

  • Experience working in a smaller, high-growth company is a plus.

  • A love of skincare!
